Shuffle tournament summary
How shuffle tournaments work and when to use them.
Shuffle tournaments are a tournament type where players compete individually, and teams are re-balanced automatically between rounds based on rating.
When to use shuffle
- You don’t have fixed teams (mixes, PUGs, community events).
- You want “fairer” matches round-to-round as ratings update.
What to expect
- Players, not teams, are the primary unit: standings and ratings are per-player.
- Teams are re-generated between rounds based on current ratings.
- New players start at a neutral rating (and stabilize after a few games).
Operator tips
- Keep the player pool size consistent (late joins/leaves can make balancing harder).
- Use a short match format (BO1) for smoother rotations during events.
