Manual matches
Create and run manual matches outside tournaments.
This guide explains how to create and run manual matches outside of a shuffle tournament, including how max rounds and overtime settings map to MatchZy and CS2.
When to use manual matches
Use manual matches when you want to:
- Spin up a one-off scrim or test match
- Run a showmatch outside a bracket
- Quickly create a match between two teams or ad-hoc lineups
Creating a manual match (UI)
- Go to Matches
- Click Create Manual Match
- Fill out the modal:
- Basic info (slug, server)
- Teams
- Maps & Rules (format, max rounds, overtime)
- Save — MAT persists the config and loads the match.
- If you selected a server, it loads there
- If you leave server empty, MAT can auto-allocate a server when one is available
Max rounds & overtime
Manual matches primarily drive CS2 using standard cvars (e.g. mp_maxrounds, mp_overtime_enable, mp_overtime_maxrounds) and mirror effective settings into the match JSON config for MatchZy.
Notes
- Manual matches are treated as round 0 matches internally (they’re not part of a bracket).
- For safety, MAT only allows deleting matches that are manual (round 0).
